Culture Club: Indigenous Peoples’ Day (Public Program)
October 11 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Cahuenga – “place of the hill”. Topanga “ where the mountain meets the sea”, Tunjunga “mountain range or place of the old woman” – these names all come from the Tongvan people who have lived in the Los Angeles Basin for thousands of years! In honor of Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we will learn more about the Tongvan people, and the history of this place many of us now call home. We will also make a collaborative map that shows where our families come from and where we now live! Aside from museum admission, this program is FREE to the general public.
