The Zimmer is now closed at our 6505 Wilshire BLVD location
Stay tuned to our social media for updates on the big move to Santa Monica!
While children under two are always welcome at the museum (under 1 for FREE!) and will find many wonderful things to do in our exhibits, we also offer the following spaces and programs with the specific needs of our V.I.Bs (Very Important Babies) in mind.
To provide a fun, safe refuge for our rolling, crawling and toddling visitors, this brightly colored nook is filled with soft toys, mirrors and plenty of activity mats so that tiny tots can explore in their own way away from the traffic of older kids.
Each Wednesday morning at 9AM, the Zimmer opens its doors exclusively to the under 2 crowd! Tiny tykes and their caregivers can enjoy the museum in a more relaxed setting giving both kids and adults more room to breathe (and crawl and climb). Museum admission rates apply. As this hour’s intention is to create a safe, comfortable play space for our youngest visitors, we ask families with older siblings to instead join for regular museum hours at 10am.
Open Door Days
Open Door Days provide exclusive access to the museum for special needs families 8 mornings per year. They operate during prime time (often school holidays), are free of charge, restrict capacity and make sensory modifications to provide a gentler sensory environment, while allowing families to play together in an understanding community at a low-pressure event. In addition, our staff are trained in strategies and techniques that create a warm and welcoming environment for all families. Museum is closed to the general public on these days from 10:00am-2:00pm to help maintain a safe, open environment for families of special needs.
Upcoming Open Door Days: Mondays, Oct 15, Nov 5, & Dec 3 from 10:00am-2:00pm
